Test Drive Meme

So you've woken up in a city right out of a fairy tale, surrounded by gnomes, dwarves, wicked stepsisters, and talking pigs, and all they can talk about is how much they missed you. Either you had a really good time the night before, or something really strange is going on. Welcome to the Myth Making Test Drive Meme. You don't have to be in the game or reserved to test out here! It's just so you can get a feel of the game and interact with other people. Threads may be used for your application samples and CR between characters accepted in the game can carry over if all parties agree. You're also welcome but not required to use these example prompts: ✒ Time to go exploring! You're in a big city surrounded by people, food, and talking animals. There's a large tower in the center of the city that's hard to miss... But there's also a tavern. Choices, choices... ✒ Time to get the hell out. The city gates are unguarded and no one's really trying to stop you. You can ask questions later, that ominous forest looks like your best bet. ✒ Forget all of that, you need to figure out what's up with your body. Whatever powers you had before certainly aren't working. |

I did, but they insist.
[Naoto raised here head slightly, eyebrows shooting up when Kanji snapped. It wasn't like him to take offense so quickly, but why would anyone use such a word even towards him?]
[Eyes back towards him, they fall to his mouth and squint. She wasn't sure if she was seeing things, but they were right there.]
Fangs...
no subject
[Fangs? Here he was, speaking to the first person that yet again stopped to talk to him without freaking out first, and this time she was saying all this weird shit about being storybook characters and fangs and being so damn calm in the face of giants and talking animals and whatnot! He clutched his brow briefly, looking momentarily pained.]
Head hurts... the hell's goin' on? Am I home sleepin' in bed, are we inside a TV?
no subject
Neither. I tried summoning my Persona and it didn't work. As for sleeping, I was certain I was writing a report before being dropped in the main square. There's too much I don't know about this that I can't gauge it whether it's entirely real or not.
no subject
Tried my cellphone already, too. No reception. So... so whadda we do, Naoto?
[If anybody knew, it was her, because he was fresh out of ideas at the moment. But he seemed to be calming down just talking like this, even if he didn't know where the hell they were.]
no subject
... I'm sorry, but I don't know. This... it's been overwhelming to me as well.
[She lowered her head, the brim of her cap covering her eyes. The detective was disappointed with herself not knowing the answer and ashamed to be admitting this.]
no subject
[Shit... how alike were they?]
[So after a moment, he stepped up and took a seat at the fountain too. The townspeople simply milled about, living their day to day, hardly paying them any mind save for the occasional glance. It was when he saw a trio of pigs walking on hind hooves, chatting animatedly that he got an idea.]
So I guess... l-let's say we're the characters, yeah? I wonder why. Ya think if we look for the castle the Beast lives in we'll find out somethin'? I mean, dude's got servants and stuff who've been around all their lives in the story and would probably know somethin'.
[And with a sigh.] ...That, and not run off all scared'a me at the same freakin' time, so I can ask a buncha questions, too.
no subject
[Shyly almost, she rubbed her arms and looked at Kanji, biting the inside of her cheek.]
... It's possible. Still, they may become just as confused should we insist on being other people.
[She fell silent, thinking for a moment] There's a library in his castle, correct? You could speak to the servants while I attempt to find some information there.
no subject
Oh yeah. He's got a library bigger than the places you could go to in a town, so if the answer ain't there, then it ain't gonna be anywhere else.
[He nodded.]
I mean, s'worth a shot, yeah? If I'm Beast, then they'd be talkin' to their, uh... their prince. Man, I don't feel princely at all.
[He rubbed the back of his neck and stood. When he turned, he offered her a hand up, but turned his eyes away.]
S-so let's get goin', before it gets dark.
no subject
... [Well, he's offering... so she took hold of his hand, fingers curling gently and stood up with his help.]
Ready.
no subject
[He quickly released her hand as soon as she was on her feet, tucking his hands in his pockets. With a nod he led the way, looking for a fancy carriage of any sort, anybody ballsy enough to go through the woods with the promise of being paid at the end of the journey. If everybody thought he was Beast, then he had riches stashed away somewhere. He just hoped he wasn't screwing somebody outta their pay. But they'd slowly grow to learn that there was a lot to discover in Märchen and the surrounding land... and their new roles.]
[Today was merely the first step.]
